Resolved 8.40am Thursday: The Environment Agency has removed its flood alert for Polegate and Wannock. The Met Office also says no weather warnings are in force for Eastbourne after the yellow thunderstorm warning ended at 8am.
Polegate and Wannock flood alert removed
The Environment Agency removed alert 065WAF455 at 8.40am on Thursday 27 August. It says there is no longer a threat of flooding and no further flooding is expected as weather conditions improve.
Standing water and debris may still remain in places. People should stay away from floodwater because it can conceal open manhole covers and other hazards, and may contain sewage or chemicals.
Eastbourne weather warning ended
The Met Office yellow thunderstorm warning for Eastbourne ran from 2am to 8am. Its local warning page now says there are no warnings in force for Eastbourne.
The warning had covered the risk of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hail and possible travel or power disruption across East Sussex during the early hours.
Advice after the warning
- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through floodwater.
- Take care around standing water and debris.
- Check local travel information before setting out if conditions in your area were affected.
- Report river blockages to the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60.
