East Sussex County Council has confirmed a £2.9 million highways maintenance incentive grant after publishing its annual transparency report.

In its 4 November announcement, the council says the money supports work such as resurfacing and pothole repairs. It will also receive a £15.9 million baseline grant. A further £2.9 million depends on meeting additional Department for Transport requirements, including spending maintenance funding and updating its highways management policy.

The council says this is a replacement funding structure, bringing together its former annual block grant and one-off pothole grant. It should not be read as £2.9 million of newly announced extra money.

The announcement covers the county network and gives no separate Eastbourne allocation or new town-specific works timetable. Residents can read the maintenance transparency report for the wider programme and road-condition information.
