The Beachy Head Marathon will start at 08:00 BST on Saturday 24 October, earlier than previously planned, according to the organiser’s weather update published on Friday.

The change is intended to use the more favourable conditions expected earlier in the day. The 10K, Ultra and Half races keep their advertised start times; runners should check the instructions for their own race.

The organiser says some temporary structures are being removed as a precaution and runners will receive a safety briefing. Public-transport users should check their journeys before setting out.
