East Sussex County Council says government has approved its Local SEND Reform Plan, covering children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities across the county, including Eastbourne.
In its 8 October announcement, the council said approval makes it eligible for a High Needs Stability Grant covering 90% of its Designated Schools Grant deficit.
What is planned
The programme aims to identify needs earlier and strengthen support in local education settings. A proposed “Experts at Hand” offer includes additional therapists, educational psychologists and specialist teachers.
A partnership board involving families, young people and professionals will monitor delivery. These are planned improvements, not confirmation that every new service is already available.
