Updated 12 October 2026 at 01:10 BST: National Rail has marked the disruption between Hastings and London Bridge cleared at 00:56 on Monday 12 October. Its notice, updated at 00:57, says trains can run as scheduled after the track-related speed restriction between Tonbridge and Redhill.

This supersedes Sunday’s advice that the affected Southeastern services terminated at Tonbridge, with passengers changing there for London Victoria. That advice mattered to Eastbourne passengers using the alternative route via Hastings during the weekend main-line closure. Check the complete journey and current operator notices before travelling.

Separate Sunday warning no longer listed

Southern’s Gatwick Airport–Purley London-bound warning, which had been extended to the end of Sunday, no longer appears on its canonical live service-updates page at this check. An exact clearance time for that incident was not confirmed. This is not an all-clear for every Eastbourne–London journey.

10–11 October closure: background

Southern’s published weekend engineering closure was between Lewes and Three Bridges, not between Eastbourne and Lewes. The 10–11 October plan provided replacement buses between Three Bridges and Lewes via Haywards Heath and Cooksbridge, with separate links between Haywards Heath, Plumpton and Lewes. The weekend bus and diversion information is background, not current Monday travel advice.
