Southern confirmed trains could run again between Wivelsfield and Lewes on Monday evening, 26 October, after emergency services attended an incident. This is on the route used for Eastbourne–London journeys.

Its 20:54 GMT update said lines had reopened. National Rail’s incident record gives an initial report time of 20:21 GMT. The operator said a passenger had received medical attention.

At that update, Southern warned of delays of up to 20 minutes or altered trains and advised allowing an additional 30 minutes. Its then estimate of disruption until 22:00 GMT is a forecast, not confirmation of normal service.

A subsequent check of Southern’s current index no longer showed the notice. We have not verified an explicit clearance of the remaining disruption; the National Rail detail page could not be reopened. Check Southern’s current advice and live departures before travelling.

The Eastbourne station pin on our live map is a public route-planning reference, not the incident site or a replacement-bus boarding point.
